WHO AM I?
I'm a regular guy and I like to think I'm an athlete, I also like to think I can write too. I love basketball, I like gym things, I'm deeply fascinated by psychology, philosophy and the little things that drives us. My passion is more about people, them helping themselves and also finding some beauty and humility in that power. The vehicles that drive my craft are exercise therapies, sports, lifting and writing. The tools of my craft are barbells, kettlebells, pens, paper and the triangle offence.
My experience ranges from working in the field of strength and conditioning within elite sporting environments - having worked at Tennis Victoria, Western Jets F.C., The Victorian Women's Football Academy and Carlton F.C. of the AFLW - to exercise programs for the elderly and disabled as well as regular personal training clientele over the past 7 years. Having completed studies for both a Bachelor in Applied Science (Exercise & Sport Science) and Masters in Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation, I am recognized as an Accredited Exercise Scientist and Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
My personal philosophy to the scope of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation is one born from an initial love of sports, then health, fitness and human movement to the practice of lifting and strength and how this integrates itself into optimizing the treatment and management of patients, clients and athletes through the understanding and art-form of safe and proper movement, lifting and functional strength.
A lifelong sports enthusiast with a passion and advocacy for wellness and healthcare, my second loves are that of basketball, writing, podcasts, beers, dude food, post-modern instrumental music and 90's rock, quaint country pubs and small towns, Western Bulldogs F.C. and actual dogs, coaching and psychology, and anything within the Larry David/Seinfeld realm - in no particular order. If I'm not teaching somebody how to lift and move somewhere, then I'm working within community health or quietly sipping coffee somewhere - in no particular order.
WHAT I'M DOING
I'm using my knowledge through an unfinished career of study of the disciplines of exercise science, rehabilitation and health-care crossed with my own personal experience of strength training, lifting practice, sports training and general fitness as a vehicle to help my clients and patients. My primary drive is to help people whom want to change to effectively make that change for the better. Be it a change for their health, a change of their circumstances, a change of their performance or a change of their overall well-being, my practice ultimately goes into helping people to help themselves and to empower themselves through movement, training and exercise and the powerful principles that underpin those disciplines.
