EXERCISE & PAIN

Pain is a subjective multi-dimensional experience, not an input as a result of a sudden physical harm or malady. The experience can be complex, especially if your pain is longer term and fickle in nature, because pain is influenced by not just the physical, but overlapping psychological and environmental factors also. As such, complicated pain issues requires to be managed with this multi-factorial relationship in mind.

The complexity of pain means that there’s usually no one single treatment, exercise, pill or whatever than can reliably solve issues with pain, but exercise can serve extremely well as a means of staying healthy, reducing other adverse consequences of inactivity whilst maintaining a positive association with movement. All of these things together can significantly help one navigate the tricky waters of the pain experience, particularly chronic pain syndromes.
