Training Journal - 28/7/21 - Back in a gym...

Wandering out of another lockdown, crutch walking into a gym... A welcome challenge.


Watching Olympics and too much YouTube whilst carefully and hesitantly paroozing Twitter, the mental health game is real... Despite everything I can do right now seeming to just take a little longer, is vastly more inconvenient and costly, getting back to a gym to find a little juice I otherwise don't get at home is probably the baseline normalising rudder I need... plus the use of the user-friendly equipment for my deteriorating legs.


Trying to emulate all the "somethings" that live in the little pocket box, despite knowing and self-reciting that what you see is probably only a fraction of the story and that comparison can be a disease, the pure frustration and glumness that I myself feel that I am nowhere near anything that I'd consider "achievement" in my own life makes me momentarily believe their facade and keep watching, strategizing how I can be a "something" like them too...


There's a reason I quit social media for a while... It's still not totally off the cards again.


Alas, getting out of the house and down to my favourite neighbourhood and into the tidy and shiny commercial gym in the middle of it, amongst other humans - albeit strangers - and getting some work in to prepare for the next procedure to fix my wheels was a highlight and the change up needed. It's still pretty cool to me how exercise can do that...


Or maybe it was just getting away from those "somethings"...
